The Sino-European Circular Economy and Resource Efficiency (SINCERE) project will develop new economic modelling tools to understand the resource use patterns of China and the EU. The project will also address indicators and metrics, institutions and policies, and it will examine historical patterns between resource indicators, trade and macro-economic performance. The green.eu project (Full Name: European Global Transition Network on Eco-Innovation, Green Economy and Sustainable Development) aims to accelerate the transition towards a green economy, with a focus on co-development of knowledge. The project will examine the challenges of improving understanding and assessment of the concepts of the green economy and eco-innovation, adaptation of policy-agendas, documentation of best practices and knowledge transfer and transferability. In particular, the project is aiming to improve: 1. Harmonisation of definitions; 2. Collection of relevant information on the performance of past and current policy efforts; 3. Co-ordination amongst stakeholders. The project will do this through the creation of the international Innovation for Sustainable Development Network (inno4sd.net).
MEI is a project for DG Research of the European Commission (Call FP6-2005-SSP-5A, Area B, 1.6, Task 1). The project has been carried out in collaboration with Eurostat, the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission. MEI offers a conceptual clarification of eco-innovation (developing a typology) and discusses possible indicators, leading to proposals for eco-innovation measurement.
While in the ORGANEXT project the focus was on Technology and Economic Valorization opportunities and to a lesser extent on the training aspect, the target of the ORGA | NEXT | GENERATION project is to mainly put the attention on the development of a sustainable and forward-looking cross-border academic knowledge platform for the training of a new generation of scientists/engineers/technicians with expertise in the field of nanomaterials, innovative deposition technologies for new electro-optical applications, printable electronics and thin film solar cells to stimulate the Meuse-Rhine Euregion and to support in a further development to a top technology region in this domain. The European research project EMInInn tracks the past development and diffusion through the economy of pervasive innovations that can be expected to have had an appreciable positive or negative environmental impact. The aim of the project was to generate deeper insights into the role of innovation in decoupling environmental impacts from economic growth, helping policy makers to both assess the benefits from past innovations as well as maximize benefits from present and emerging innovations.(http://www.emininn.eu)
